Ben Frear - Founding Principal
A veteran of the M&A industry with more than 12 years of experience, Ben has completed more than 125 transactions in numerous industries. This broad, diverse experience provides a wide-angle perspective and informs a meticulous and resourceful approach to the nuances of every engagement.
He founded Mainmast Capital with a vision for it to be a trusted advisory firm who serves clients with a personal and hands-on approach in which every engagement is custom-tailored to match their needs and goals for the future.
As a graduate of the University of South Carolina, Ben started fresh out of college at the ground floor of the business brokerage industry by selling small mom-and-pop, main street businesses. Cutting his teeth on these transactions trained him in the art of negotiations, working with all types of personalities and how to navigate the myriad of challenges involved with guiding deals across the finish line. Since those early days, he has grown into the M&A advisor role in the middle market. In this field, Ben has found a love of the work; building relationships and helping clients achieve their goals.
Personal interests include golf, landscape photography and backpacking in the North Carolina mountains with his wife and golden retrievers.
